President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed the government to create conditions for the relocation to the country of foreign companies that have left the Russian market, Tengrinews.kz reports .

“Every second out of almost 1,400 large foreign companies has suspended its activities or completely left the Russian market. The government should create favorable conditions for their relocation to Kazakhstan. This will give us good opportunities to increase the production of goods of medium and upper processing,” Tokayev said during an extended government meeting.

On June 28, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, Bagdat Musin, said that Kazakhstan is doing a lot of work to attract foreign IT companies to the country. According to him, at that time, support was provided by more than a thousand IT specialists. According to the ministry, Plaurix, Tinkoff, InDriver, Lever Travel and others have already been moved to Kazakhstan.

The level of tension between Russia and Kazakhstan rose after Tokayev's statement about non-recognition of the independence of the so-called Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics and respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Moreover, Kazakhstan has explicitly announced that it does not intend to help Russia bypass foreign sanctions; such actions caused a wave of criticism from Russian politicians.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, dozens of the world's largest companies have either left Russia altogether, or reduced or suspended their activities.
