In Nikolaev from September 1, the teaching of the Russian language stops, the BBC reports . Such prohibition was accepted by executive committee of the Nikolaev City Council.

“In connection with the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine, the functioning of grades 1-4 with the Russian language of instruction is prohibited in the schools of Nikolaev,” the BBC News Ukraine document cites. The ban also includes the study of the Russian language in electives and courses for grades 1-11. The ban will affect all municipal educational institutions.

On June 17, the sleeping area of ​​Nikolaev was fired upon by Russian troops: two people were killed, more than twenty were injured. Since the beginning of the war, Nikolaev has been regularly shelled.
