The Carnegie Moscow Center, which represented the American Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (USA) in Russia, stopped its work at the request of the Russian Ministry of Justice. This is stated in the message sent by the center to Telegram.

The fund promised to continue to publish analytics about Russia, Ukraine and neighboring countries, including in Russian. Some material has already been collected on the new Carnegie Politika website.

On April 8, the Ministry of Justice excluded from the “register of representative offices of international organizations and NGOs” subdivisions of 15 organizations from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Poland and Switzerland. Among the closed were branches of the human rights organizations Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, as well as the Carnegie and Heinrich Böll foundations. The exclusion of branches of these organizations from the register in the Ministry of Justice was explained by "violations of the current legislation."
