Levin went into the thicket of the forest, while Chernyshov remained in the car. All this time they were followed by the Russian military who noticed them. They shot Levin, and Chernyshov, hearing the shots, got out of the car. The military opened automatic fire at the car, one of the bullets hit Chernyshov. They then set fire to the car.
