The license of Novaya Gazeta was canceled at the suit of Roskomnadzor

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow satisfied the claim of Roskomnadzor (RKN) against Novaya Gazeta and invalidated the license for the printed version of the publication. This is reported by "Mediazona" with reference to a correspondent from the courtroom.

The RKN claims that in 2006 Novaya Gazeta changed the founder of the editorial office, but did not submit a charter to the department, as required by the law "On Mass Media". The publication's defense claims that the newspaper began publication in 2002, and four years later there were minor changes that did not require the filing of a new charter.

On September 4, a trial will be held on the suit of the RKN to revoke the license from Novaya rasskaz-gazeta. This is the Novy magazine, which came out after the blocking of the main site.

Novaya Gazeta ceased operations shortly after the start of the war due to the entry into force of the criminal article on “fakes” about the Russian army (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Roskomnadzor demanded to invalidate the certificate of registration of the publication's website after two warnings. Journalists expect a similar lawsuit against the print newspaper Novaya Gazeta. At the end of July, the RKN demanded that the publication's registration certificate be invalidated.
