“Currently”: The final of the Russian Karting Championship was moved from Crimea to Chechnya. Putin’s grandson participates in the competition

The final stage of the Russian karting championship, which was supposed to be held on September 9-11 in Evpatoria, was moved to Grozny, reports Current Time. This decision was made after the explosions at the Saki military airfield, 20 km from Evpatoria. 10-year-old Roman Faassen, the son of Vladimir Putin's eldest daughter Maria Vorontsova and her first husband, Dutch citizen Jorrita Faassen, is participating in the mini class.

The publication writes that in total, Putin's grandson went on the track five times out of six possible - in Grozny, Zelenograd, twice in Ryazan and in the village of Rich Saby near Kazan. Faassen showed his best result in Ryazan on July 25, taking 14th place out of 22. In the overall standings of the championship, he takes 28th place with two points, the current leader, 11-year-old Muscovite Mark Zaitsev, has 300 points.

Faassen represents Moscow in the competition. On his car next to the name is the flag of Russia, and on the frame - the flags of the Russian Federation and the Netherlands. The racing helmet is painted in yellow-orange colors, on top is a silver double-headed eagle, the newspaper writes.

On August 16, a series of explosions occurred at a military aviation base in the village of Gvardeiskoye (Simferopol region) of Crimea. Earlier on the same day, the Crimean authorities announced a “detonation of ammunition” in a warehouse in the village of Maiskoye, Dzhankoy district. About 2,000 residents were evacuated. The Ministry of Defense called the explosions "sabotage", which resulted in damage to a military warehouse, as well as damage to civilian facilities: power lines, power plants, railway tracks and residential buildings.
