Russian President Vladimir Putin boasted of the growth of Russian budget revenues during a meeting with the head of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) Daniil Egorov. Details of the meeting are given on the official website of the Kremlin.
“Despite the problems that our ill-wishers and envious people are trying to create for us, nevertheless, the filling of the budget is still going at the right pace, oil and gas revenues are growing, and, which is especially pleasant, non-oil and gas, too, in my opinion, by 24% lately” , the President said, summing up the results for the first six months of 2022.
Putin claims that the current situation in the Russian economy is stabilizing, "at least for the time being." The President also said that the authorities are aware of the risks and see them in the medium term, since "they have not disappeared anywhere." The head of the Federal Tax Service confirmed the president's words about the growth of non-oil and gas budget revenues by 24% or 2 trillion rubles.
“The consolidated budget has grown by 32% compared to the first half of 2021, which is a plus of 4.1 trillion rubles in total. Undoubtedly, oil and gas revenues and the market situation played a significant role in this filling,” said Daniil Egorov.
The head of the Federal Tax Service and Vladimir Putin, in their speeches, decided to ignore the latest dynamics of Russian budget revenues: for example, in July 2022, the Ministry of Finance reported a fall in both oil and gas and non-energy-related revenues. Oil and gas revenues in July fell by 22% compared to 2021, while non-oil and gas revenues fell by 29%. At the end of 2022, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov estimated the budget deficit at around 1.6 trillion rubles. The decline in revenues will also contribute to the reduction in oil production, which, according to Bloomberg, has been going on since the beginning of August.
