A doctor from Sochi was fined 3 million rubles under an article about military fakes

The Central District Court of Sochi fined an infectious disease doctor in the amount of 3 million rubles in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army (part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). This is reported by "Network Freedom".

A criminal case against the doctor was initiated because of his comments on Facebook about the losses of the Russian army and the formation of Chechen “blocking detachments”. They were published in March. During the debate, the public prosecutor asked for 6 years in prison for the man.

“Such a fine is provided for by the article itself, so it cannot be said that it is unexpected. We hoped that there would be no imprisonment. Most likely, we will appeal this court decision, but we must first familiarize ourselves with the text of the verdict, which we have not yet received, ”the defendant’s lawyer Sergei Kostyuk told The Insider.

“Network Freedoms” do not name the doctor, however, as OVD-Info notes, according to the data on the court’s website, we can talk about Yevgeny Zolotov.

After Vladimir Putin unleashed a war against Ukraine, active persecution began in Russia for anti-war actions, posts, and even likes. Often cases for "fake" and "discrediting" the Russian army are initiated after denunciations. The Russians inform the security forces about teachers, bystanders and even their own children. So, on August 4, 45-year-old teacher Irina Gen was sentenced to 5 years probation in the case of "fake" about the army based on political hatred. The case against Gene was brought after a denunciation by one of the students of the class, before whom she made an anti-war speech.
