The cause of the explosion in Yelenovka, which killed Ukrainian prisoners, was a Russian thermobaric weapon – Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin

The explosion in the colony in the village of Yelenovka, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept, in particular, from Azovstal, was caused by the action of Russian thermobaric weapons. This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin on the air of the United News telethon. According to him, this conclusion was reached by the investigative team, which included international experts cooperating with the Office of the Attorney General.

“The preliminary findings of our international experts suggest that the cause of this murder or the method of this murder was a thermobaric weapon. These are the preliminary findings of several international experts. It wasn't a missile attack."

Kostin also noted that one of the main priorities now is the exposure of Russian propaganda. Recall, Russian state media report that the attack on the colony with prisoners was missile and made from the American MLRS HIMARS.

An explosion in a colony with prisoners of war in the village of Yelenovka (Donetsk region) occurred on July 29. The so-called “DPR” authorities said that the military fired. Soon there were statements by Russian propaganda about the operation of American artillery and how Ukrainians were killing their own. At the same time, several military experts reported that the effects of the impact, which are visible in the photo, are more reminiscent of the action of thermobaric weapons. The explosion killed 53 people and injured 130 others.

The Insider wrote that the propagandists reported on the preparation of a "provocation" as early as June. A volunteer from Mariupol, Vitaly Sitnikov, who spent more than three months in the prison in Yelenovka, said that the prisoners were kept in other compartments of the colony all the time, but shortly before the strike, the Azov fighters were transferred to the hangars, where the explosion occurred. He also reported about the constant torture in the colony and the fighter who committed suicide because of this.
