In the Kiev region, the police found the bodies of 1,348 civilians, said Andriy Nebytov, head of the region's police.
“To date, we have found the bodies of 1348 civilians who died due to the aggression of the Russian Federation. These are not isolated cases when we found graves at the positions where the Russian troops were stationed, including mass graves, where there were mass graves of people, all of them were with signs of torture, ”Nebytov said.
He added that near the village of Novye Zalesye, Buchansky district, they found the body of a man, whose hands were tied with a rope with a tow rope fastened through an iron carabiner. It was also wound around the neck of the deceased. “Everything suggests that the man was strangled before he died,” Nebytov said.
He noted that now about 300 people are considered missing during the hostilities in the Kyiv region. 216 bodies found have not yet been identified. According to Nebytov, DNA material was taken, the police hope to identify the victims.
On April 2, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the entire Kyiv region had been liberated from Russian occupation. In particular, on March 28, the Ukrainian military completely took control of Irpen, and on March 31 - Bucha and the entire Buchan region.
Evidence of killings of civilians is still being found in the liberated territories. In June, it was reported that police officers of the Kyiv region found a burial in the Buchansky district, in which the bodies of seven dead civilians lay. It is noted that many of the victims had their hands tied and their knees shot.
