Russia will need at least six years to withdraw from the ISS project – Reuters

Russian space officials have told their American counterparts that Russia would like to continue flying to the International Space Station (ISS) until its own is built and operational. About it writes Reuters with reference to the representative of NASA.

The publication notes that Russia will need at least six years to withdraw from the ISS project and cease cooperation with the United States. At the same time, the new head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov (then deputy chairman of the Russian government for the military-industrial complex), said back in April that this would happen in 2025. On Tuesday, July 26, heannounced new dates, saying that Russia would withdraw from the ISS project after 2024.

NASA space operations chief Katie Lueders told Reuters in an interview that after Borisov's statement, representatives of Russia approached the US space agency. They reported that Roscosmos wants to continue cooperation as Russia works on launching the ROSS orbital station.

“At no working level are we receiving any indication that anything has changed,” Lueders said.
