The Russian Ministry of Justice sent a warning to several Jewish organizations operating in Russia about their possible recognition as "foreign agents." The Jerusalem Post writes about it.
The publication does not specify which organizations in question. However, it is known that local Jewish organizations that do not have foreign funding or influence did not receive any letters.
On July 21, the Department of the Ministry of Justice for Moscow demanded the liquidation of the branch of the Jewish agency Sokhnut, which is engaged in repatriation to Israel. A few weeks earlier, the Russian authorities had demanded that he stop his activities in Russia. The decision came amid growing tensions between Israel and Russia over Jerusalem's support for Ukraine.
A few days later, it became known that Sokhnut plans to transfer the activities of its Moscow office to Israel and online.
