Explosive device detonated in front of freight train in Bryansk region – regional governor

In the Unechsky district of the Bryansk region, an explosive device went off on the railway tracks in front of a freight train. This was announced by the Governor of the Bryansk region Alexander Bogomaz in his Telegram.

“As a result of the incident, the windows of the driver's cab were damaged, the railway tracks were not damaged, there were no casualties. Specialized operational services are working on the spot,” he wrote.

In Russia, after the start of a full-scale war with Ukraine, the number of accidents on the railway has increased dramatically. Underground groups opposed to the invasion of Ukraine are taking responsibility for the derailment of the railcars. The Insider spoke to some of these guerrilla groups and found out how the underground resistance is organized and why decentralization makes it especially effective.

According to The Insider, from March to June 2022, 63 freight trains derailed in Russia. This is almost one and a half times more than in the same period last year.
