In Kharkov, the Pushkin Academic Russian Drama Theater will be renamed. It will be called "Kharkiv Academic Drama Theatre". This decision was made by the Kharkiv Regional Council. It is reported that this was asked by the theater workers.
“In connection with the aggression of Russia against Ukraine, given the policy of the Ministry of Culture and the information policy of Ukraine on de-Russification, decommunization and decolonization of modern Ukraine, aimed at replacing the Soviet and Russian heritage with Ukrainian, clearing the public space of propaganda narratives, there was a need to rename the Kharkiv Academic Russian Drama Theater theatre. Pushkin to the Kharkiv Academic Drama Theatre, ”the developers said in a statement on the website of the Kharkiv Regional Council.
On June 19, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law banning Russian music in the media and in public places. The law on “restricting the public use of the musical product of the aggressor state” was signed by 303 deputies. The law concerns the display of "phonograms, videograms and music videos". The requirement applies to songs by performers who have had Russian citizenship since 1991. The rule does not apply to those who have renounced Russian citizenship and become a citizen of Ukraine.
