“Dry” and gingerbread. Kremlin threatens Israel with deterioration of relations due to stance on Ukraine

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, relations between Russia and Israel have deteriorated noticeably. The Kremlin is dissatisfied with the position of Jerusalem, which unconditionally condemned Moscow’s aggression and supported the anti-Russian resolutions of the UN General Assembly (but did not join the sanctions and does not provide military assistance to Kyiv). Another scandal erupted at the end of July due to the threat of closing the representative office of the Jewish Agency “Sohnut” in Russia. The “Sokhnut case” arose shortly after Vladimir Putin’s trip to Iran. Following the talks, Putin and Raisi agreed to expand bilateral cooperation. However, despite the fact that the rapprochement with Iran is a growing concern for Israel, the country is in no hurry to burn bridges with Moscow and provide Ukraine with much-needed military support.
