Ukraine may resume negotiations with Russia over the war at the end of August. This was stated by the head of the negotiating group of Ukraine David Arakhamia in an interview with Voice of America.

He stressed that right now the Ukrainian side is not considering the possibility of resuming negotiations. According to him, this can happen only after “a counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in some places” and subject to the strengthening of Ukrainian positions at the front. Arakhamia did not specify what exactly he was talking about, "so as not to share plans with the Russians."

“The minimum acceptable agreement would be if we kicked them out or they voluntarily retreated to the positions where they were before February 24,” said the head of the Ukrainian negotiating group.

After that, according to Arakhamia, it will be possible to talk about the return of all Ukrainian territories, including Crimea and the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions: “We could consider some kind of political agreement, like what we proposed in Istanbul. For example, we have not touched on the Crimean issue for several years. We don't do it militarily, but we do it diplomatically and politically."

Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia were suspended in mid-May. “The process of negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation has been suspended. However, it will be restored, and, it seems to me, Zelensky will be the moderator,” said Mykhailo Podolyak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. He also stated that the country has no plans to "give anything away to save Vladimir Putin's face" as society has already paid a huge price.
