All children who were born in the Russian-occupied Kherson region after the start of the war on February 24 will “automatically” receive Russian citizenship. This was reported by TASS with reference to the deputy head of the "military-civilian administration" of the region Kirill Stremousov.
“And orphans have already received citizenship,” Strmousov added.
On May 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship for people living in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine. Now, among those who can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner, Ukrainian citizens living in the territory of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of the country have been added. They have been under occupation by Russian troops since the beginning of March.
