The Seimas of Lithuania recognized the deportation of Ukrainian citizens to Russia as the deportation of the Ukrainian people and called on the international community to do the same, to seek accountability for these crimes. Delphi reports .

This decision was supported by 50 deputies. The initiative was presented by 23 parliamentarians from different factions, including from the opposition Labor Party and the Social Democratic Party. At the same time, the opposition, due to a conflict with the ruling majority, did not participate in the vote.

The resolution condemns the fact that over a million civilians have been expelled from their homes and forcibly deported to Russia or to territories controlled by it in order to destroy Ukrainian identity. In addition, the document emphasizes that among these civilians, 200,000 children were also deported.

The Seimas also addressed this resolution to other states so that those who organize the deportation of Ukrainians would be brought to justice.

In May, the former Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Lyudmila Denisova, reported that Russia illegally deported more than 1.185 million Ukrainian citizens, Ukrinform reports . Denisova added that those citizens of Ukraine who were “filtered” in “filtration camps” created by the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories are subject to forced deportation. According to data for May, there were more than 20,000 Ukrainian citizens in some "filtration camps".
