German firm OBI sells its Russian business for €1

OBI, which owns a chain of hardware stores, sold its business in Russia for €1. Businessman Jozef Liokumovich received a controlling stake, Vedomosti reports , he will receive a 60% stake in firms. 40% will go to the group of investment and construction companies Max (GISK Max), later it can resell them to third parties. According to the publication, an agreement with a group of Russian investors on the sale of six legal entities to them was signed on July 27.

Liokumovich is a friend of the Haub family, which actually owns the German OBI GmH., Vedomosti writes. Liokumovich is called a “professional negotiator” and a representative of the Austrian group of companies Supernova, which, in turn, manages shopping and entertainment centers in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2015-2016 this company participated in the sale of part of the assets of the Austrian bankrupt retailer bauMAX to the same OBI, and also supported the transaction for the lease of the Austrian segment of the OBI network.
