The Netflix streaming service, together with the House of Europe foundation for supporting Ukrainian culture, will pay scholarships to Ukrainian filmmakers to support them. As part of the cooperation, two initiatives have been launched to help Ukrainians who have been affected or forced to move because of the war to continue and develop their work.
Those wishing to receive scholarships can apply on the websites of the House of Europe and the Ukrainian Film Academy from July 28.
The Ukrainian Film Academy program includes 48 screenwriting grants worth $15,000 each for teams of experienced film professionals of two people (screenwriter and producer) and exclusive online sessions with international industry experts.
The House of Europe-led program will provide 100 €1,000 scholarships for creators of all levels, as well as training in filmmaking, post-production and pitching from Netflix for entry-level and intermediate-level professionals.
After the start of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, Netflix completely stopped work on Russian original projects. Also, the streaming service stopped broadcasting 20 Russian federal channels, the mandatory broadcasting of which from March 1 was supposed to begin with resources included in the register of audiovisual services.
