The Russian military grouping in Kherson was cut off from the main units and supplies. This is reported by British intelligence. The agency emphasizes that this significantly undermines Russia's chances for a successful occupation of the region.
“The Russian 49th Army, which is stationed on the western bank of the Dnieper, and currently looks very vulnerable. Likewise, the city of Kherson, the most politically significant settlement occupied by Russia, is now practically cut off from other occupied territories. Its loss would seriously undermine Russia's efforts to present the occupation as a success," British intelligence said in a statement.
The supply routes of the Russian military were cut off as a result of the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the automobile and pedestrian Antonovsky bridge and the railway bridge across the Dnieper, which was carried out on July 27. This information was given in an interview with The Insider by a military expert, Colonel Sergei Grabsky.
“The Russian military group on the right bank of the Dnieper is concentrated for operations in two directions - Hernson-Nikolaev and from the Kherson region towards Krivoy Rog. If you look closely at the geography of this grouping, you can see that there are only three crossings between the left and right banks - this is the so-called Antonovsky bridge in the Kherson region, this is a railway crossing on the border of Kherson, and there is a crossing in the Novaya Kakhovka region with a railway through dam.
The Antonovsky Automobile Bridge suffered such damage that practically excludes its operation at the moment as a cargo bridge. It can be crossed on foot, but not by car. If we are talking about the Kakhovka dam, then a demonstration strike was carried out there, because the Ukrainian side understands how serious the consequences of a large destruction of dams and artificial structures in this area can be, because the dam holds the Kakhovka reservoir. If we look at the fact that the R-47 highway passes through the dam and there is a settlement of Daryevka already closer to Antonovka, this bridge was also hit, as a result of which the bridge was damaged. Thus, we can say that today the Russian troops have practically lost their supply routes,” the expert says.
The General Staff of Ukraine reported that Russian troops attempted an assault in the area of Belogorka, Kherson region, southwest of the village of Davydov Brod, but withdrew. Also, the southern operational command of Ukraine previously reported that Ukrainian forces destroyed the Russian headquarters in Andreevka, 15 km southwest of Davydov Brod, and completely regained control over the settlement.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have established a foothold south of the Ingulets River, which forms the northern border of the Russian-occupied region. Thus, the Ukrainian counter-offensive near Kherson is gaining momentum.
