Spice manufacturer Kamis may leave Russia – Kommersant

The American company McCormick & Co, which owns the brand of spices and seasonings Kamis, may leave the Russian market due to the war in Ukraine. According to Kommersant, the company has not officially announced its withdrawal, but the range of its products in Russia has been significantly reduced and chains complain about supply disruptions.

Back in March, McCormick announced that it was suspending all operations in Russia, including new investments.

Kamis is one of the three largest spice brands along with the Austrian Kotanyi and the Russian Pripravych. In 2021, the revenue of Kamis-Priprav amounted to 1.94 billion rubles.

Earlier, the brand of spices and sauces Santa Maria left Russia.

Since the end of February, hundreds of Western companies have limited their activities in the Russian market or left it completely. Yale University tentatively estimated their losses at $59 billion. In particular, due to the exit from the Russian market, McDonald's lost $4.01 billion, Microsoft - $126 million, H&M - $190 million, Inditex - $300 million.

Many foreign companies sell their business to Russian ones, after which the new owners change the sign, and the goods remain almost the same, as happened with Tasty - and that's the point (former McDonald's).
