A complaint against Alexei Gorinov, who was sentenced to 7 years for “fake news” about the army, was written by a graduate of the HSE master’s program

A complaint against the municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow, Alexei Gorinov, who was sentenced to 7 years in a penal colony for spreading "fakes" about the Russian army (part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), was written by Philipp Lasota, who graduated from the Higher School of Economics a year ago. In 2021, he defended his graduate thesis on the topic "Investment strategy on penny stocks" at the Faculty of Economic Sciences.

As follows from the text of the verdict published on the Telegram channel by Gorinov's associates, the graduate applied via the Internet to the reception of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow and to the Prosecutor's Office of the Central Administrative District of Moscow. The master of financial engineering was “insulted and hurt” by a video where Gorinov himself and his colleague from the municipality, Elena Kotenochkina, who has already left Russia, oppose a children's drawing contest during the war in Ukraine. Also in the video, Kotenochkina called Russia a "fascist state."

“After watching this video, he (Lyasota) independently contacted the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Moscow and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Administrative District of Moscow via the Internet, because this video offended him, hurt him, he felt injustice, he had two great-grandfathers who fought against fascism, and therefore he believes that it is wrong to name the country that fought and is fighting against fascism.”

In addition to the HSE graduate, Alexander Khinshtein, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, and Oleg Leonov, deputy chairman of the committee for the development of civil society, filed complaints against Gorinov with the prosecutor's office, Kommersant wrote .

Aleksey Gorinov became the first who received a real term under this article and did not admit his guilt. Before him, all those accused under a similar article received a fine and a suspended sentence. Earlier, The insider published Gorin's last word in court.
