The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) seized the personal property of a Russian oligarch, the assets of enterprises controlled by him and "illegally mined minerals" for a total amount of more than 1 billion hryvnias (about $34 million). This was reported on the website of the secret service. The message does not indicate the name of the entrepreneur, but Obozrevatel, citing its sources, claims that he may be the beneficiary of the Unigran mining group of companies, Ukrainian businessman Igor Naumets. According to Stopkor, he has had a Russian passport for a long time.
“The company directed its millions of profits to finance the full-scale aggression of Russia, as well as to provide material support for the occupation administrations in Crimea and eastern Ukraine,” the SBU said in a statement.
According to the intelligence service, the entrepreneur “organized an illegal business in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions”, where his commercial structures were engaged in large-scale mining of sand and gravel “without paying taxes to the state budget of Ukraine on an especially large scale.” Unigran LLC, the founder and beneficiary of which is the Cypriot offshore Westgrinite Holdings Limited Naumtsa, is indeed registered in the Zhytomyr region and delivers crushed stone and sand from Malin, Penevichi, Korosten and Kyiv.
According to the investigation, the businessman also founded a “Russian company” together with “the so-called DPR minister.” The Cyprus offshore, to which the Unigran company is registered, according to investigators , was originally registered to Sergei Naumets, either a relative or the namesake of a businessman. Journalists are sure that this is the same Sergei Naumets, who until the end of 2021 was listed as the Minister of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities of the “DPR”. In 2018, the offshore was re-registered from Sergey Naumets to Igor Naumts.
“Currently, systematic work continues to bring to justice the organizers and participants of this criminal activity,” the SBU writes.
