Lithuania has extended restrictions on the transportation of goods to the Kaliningrad region and on freight road transit. This was reported in the press service of the regional government "Interfax".

“Partial restrictions on freight transit also apply to road transport passing through Lithuania. Therefore, as well as railway cargoes, today these cargoes can be transported only by sea”.

The information was also confirmed in several companies involved in trucking. They clarified that the Lithuanian customs is already deploying cars on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border at the Medininkai checkpoint, which is why a large queue of freight trains has formed. Now about 330 road trains are waiting for passes to Lithuania, and the waiting time for the passage is more than 32 hours.

Earlier, Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Russian Security Council, said that Russia would soon respond to Lithuania's actions and that the consequences of the retaliatory measures "will have a serious negative impact on the population" of the republic.

Lithuanian Railways stopped the transit of products subject to Western sanctions to Kaliningrad on the night of June 17-18. On June 20, the Charge d'Affaires of Lithuania was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. She was informed that if Lithuania does not restore transit in the near future, Russia reserves the right to take action to protect its national interests.
