The United States announced the creation of a group to investigate war crimes in Ukraine. It will be headed by one of the most successful "Nazi hunters" Eli Rosenbaum. This is stated on the website of the US Department of Justice.

Rosenbaum is director of strategy and policy for human rights enforcement at the new division of the US Department of Justice. He previously served as Director of the Office of Special Investigations (OSI), which was primarily responsible for the identification, denaturalization, and deportation of Nazi war criminals.

Rosenbaum has more than 100 exposed Nazis on his account. One of his most notorious investigations was the 1986 denunciation of former United Nations (UN) Secretary General and Austrian presidential candidate Kurt Waldheim. Rosenbaum found out that he served in the assault squads, as an officer in the Wehrmacht, and also, probably, participated in war crimes against the population of Yugoslavia.

Rosenbaum's group will be involved in prosecution consulting, evidence gathering, forensics and legal analysis. In addition, experts will take on cases under US jurisdiction, such as investigating the murders of American journalists covering Russia's war against Ukraine.

As of mid-June, more than 16,000 criminal cases are being investigated in Ukraine on the fact of crimes committed by Russian servicemen. According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova, there are more than 100 suspects in these cases, more than 620 suspects are involved in cases of "crime of aggression", among them are "top officials, politicians, military" and media people.
