The court banned Roizman from visiting public places and using means of communication as a preventive measure.

Verkh-Isetsky Court in Yekaterinburg chose the former mayor of the city Yevgeny Roizman, who was detained the day before on suspicion of “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces” (part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), a measure of restraint in the form of a ban on certain actions, reports e1.ru.

Roizman was released from custody in the courtroom. Until September 19, he cannot visit public places, use any means of communication, except when communicating with a lawyer, investigator, prosecutor, court, calling an ambulance or emergency services.

The investigation asked to ban Roizman from leaving the house from 00:00 to 23:59, which would actually mean house arrest. The politician's lawyer drew attention to this during the meeting. Judge Oksana Mamontova agreed that his act did not correspond to such a heavy measure of restraint.

The day before, Roizman was detained as part of a criminal case on “discrediting the Russian army.” Searches took place not only in Roizman's apartment, but also in the Museum of the Nevyansk Icon, as well as in the office of the Evgeny Roizman Foundation.

The governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, commenting on Roizman's detentions, said that he "deserves justice and respect."

Since the beginning of the year, Roizman has been fined three times for “discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” in social networks for a total of 150,000 rubles.
