Deliveries of low-cost phones to Russia fell sharply – Kommersant

Deliveries to Russia of smartphones worth up to 10,000 rubles fell by 56% in the first half of the year, Kommersant reports , citing a GS Group report. Deliveries of all smartphones for the same period decreased by 38%.

According to the report, deliveries of mid-range smartphones (worth 10-30 thousand rubles) decreased by 24%, to 5.5 million units. Imports of expensive devices decreased by 38% to 1.6 million units.

In total, 9.9 million smartphones were shipped in the first six months, down 38% from the first half of 2021, the document says.

Analysts at GS Group attribute the reduction in supplies to the departure of Samsung from the Russian market, as well as a change in the policy of Chinese Xiaomi and Realme.

The publication notes that, according to analysts, the characteristics of cheap smartphones will decline, so the demand for them in the short term will continue to fall.
