Thousands of people are waiting in the heat for evacuation from the occupied Vasilyevka. Eyewitnesses say that about 10 people died in line

In the occupied Vasylivka, Zaporozhye region, at a Russian checkpoint, thousands of people wait in line for days to be evacuated to the territory controlled by Ukraine. Oksana Beketova, chairman of the Zaporozhye regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, told The Insider that people are suffering from the heat, and the situation with hygiene is very difficult. The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said on the air of the telethon that 10 people had already died in this queue. Beketova said that the Red Cross also has such information from eyewitnesses who were able to cross the checkpoint. She does not rule out that there may be more dead.

According to Beketova, there are 4,000 cars in line now. 30 people pass through the checkpoint a day, sometimes more if there are seriously ill people with severe signs of illness.

Residents of Berdyansk, Vasilyevsky, Melitopol districts of the Zaporozhye region, as well as Kherson and Donetsk regions are sent to the territory controlled by Ukraine through Vasilyevka.

Since August 1, the rules for leaving the checkpoint have been tightened, the Russian military is demanding a special pass, which can be obtained at the commandant's office.

Earlier, UNIAN reported that at the checkpoint in Vasilyevka, a newborn child was hospitalized with heat stroke, because the car where he was with his parents was kept in the heat for two days.
