Russia staged a terrorist attack in the prison for Ukrainian prisoners of war in Yelenovka to prevent the delivery of Western precision weapons to Ukraine. This was stated by the chairman of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MOU) Andriy Yusov.

“From the first reports about the use and deliberate shelling of HIMARS precision weapons, it was a special operation against the supply of Western precision weapons to Ukraine. It was a special operation to destabilize Ukrainian society and demoralize Ukrainian prisoners of war,” he said on the air of the telethon.

The terrorist attack in the colony in the village of Yelenovka, Donetsk region , took place on July 29. The explosion killed 53 people and injured 130. The so-called “DNR” authorities blamed him on the Ukrainian side. A few hours after the explosion, the pro-Kremlin RIA Novosti published a video that allegedly showed fragments of a HIMARS projectile used by Ukraine at the site of the explosion.

At the same time, several military experts and Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin said that the consequences of the strike, which are visible in the photo from Yelenovka, are more reminiscent of the action of Russian thermobaric weapons. On August 3, Ukrainian intelligence reported that the Wagner PMC was behind the attack. She claims that the militants mined the prison premises in order to hide the evidence of their "interrogations".
