Approximately 20 servicemen managed to get out of the "special center" in Bryanka, Lugansk region, where they were detained for refusing to participate in the war with Ukraine, but only two have filed applications with the Investigative Committee (IC) - the rest are afraid. This was told to The Insider by a soldier who managed to get out of the "special center" for "refuseniks" located in the basement.
According to him, servicemen are afraid to file complaints because of the possibility of criminal prosecution and physical reprisals against them and their loved ones.
In addition, the interlocutor said that he remotely helped two Tuvans, who also managed to get out of the center, and gave them moral support. Earlier today human rights activist Aleksey Tabalov reported about Tuvans. The soldier claims that both servicemen are ready to write applications to the Investigative Committee.
“They are ready to write, but we are now deciding how to do this, either on the spot or in Moscow to the prosecutor’s office.”
Now everyone is planning to retire from the ranks of the Armed Forces, it is legally possible, the serviceman notes. He emphasizes that he himself definitely plans to quit and no one can forbid him, since he has the right to do so. However, he immediately adds: “But how this will all turn out, I don’t know.”
According to him, after the information about the camp began to be covered in the media, at least one group of servicemen left from there. Some manage to get out "officially due to injuries", some are allowed to take family leave, and "someone escapes". The soldier concluded that “before all this hype” no one was allowed to go on vacation.
On July 26, it became known that the Russian military, who refused to fight in Ukraine, was being held in custody in Bryanka, Luhansk region, beaten and forced to return to the front. The fighters of the Wagner PMC and representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense - Colonel Nechiporenko and Lieutenant Colonel Tumanov "break" people. This was told to The Insider by several military men who managed to get out of prison. The Russian military leadership denies any involvement in what is happening in Bryanka, stating that the contract soldiers are being held by the Lugansk military.
At least 130 people are kept in the "special center", people continue to be taken back to the front and new ones are brought in. The Insider published information about 17 of them. The father of one of the contract soldiers, who are actually being held in custody, told The Insider that after three months of service, the Russian contract soldiers were promised a vacation and the opportunity to refuse further participation in hostilities. When they wrote refusals, they were detained and taken to the same Bryanka in the Lugansk region. They have been in custody for over a month now.
