Mishustin dismissed the head of the Pension Fund

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin dismissed Andrei Kigim from the post of head of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation. Sergei Chirkov, Deputy Chairman of the Board, has been appointed acting as interim.

The government website notes that Chirkov "has extensive experience in the PFR system."

Chirkov joined the Pension Fund in 2001 as chief specialist of the department for assessing pension rights. Since July 2012, he worked as the head of the department for organizing the appointment and payment of pensions, and in July 2018 he took the position of deputy chairman of the board of the PFR.

The former head of the Pension Fund Andrey Kigim joined United Russia in 2010. Since 2013, he has headed the Social Insurance Fund of Russia. He took up the post of head of the Pension Fund in 2021.
