In the border areas of Kosovo and Serbia, the sounds of gunfire are heard. The authorities have declared a military alert. This was reported in the Telegram channel "Military Observer".

The Serbian newspaper Danas reports that the sounds of sirens are heard in the center of Serb-populated Northern Mitrovica in Kosovo and Metohija. Sirens work for about an hour. Residents are urged not to leave their homes and stay away from windows. Also, according to local publications, the armed forces are blocking roads to Serbia.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in an address to citizens on July 31, said that the Kosovo police would begin a military operation against the Serbs living in the north of the region at midnight. According to him, the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic will block the entry of citizens with documents issued in Serbia and with Serbian numbers on cars.

The authorities of Kosovo have announced that from August 1 they intend to ban entry on Serbian documents. Their owners will be issued a temporary certificate. At the same time, mandatory re-registration of cars will begin, Kosovo Serbs must re-register their cars with Serbian numbers by September 31.

In Kosovo, this is considered a symmetrical response to the fact that Serbia does not recognize the documents of Kosovo.

“I think that we have never been in a more difficult and difficult situation than today. Why did I say this? The Pristina regime is trying to use the mood in the world by presenting itself as a victim,” Vučić said.

According to him, units of the Kosovo Albanian police have already gone to the crossing points of Jarine and Brnjak to stop anyone who has Serbian documents.

Vučić called on the Kosovo Albanian authorities to maintain peace and warned that in the event of aggressive actions against the Serbs in Kosovo, "Serbia will win."
