Egypt terminated the contract for the purchase of 240 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine. Lavrov visited Cairo the day before

Egypt terminated contracts for the purchase of 240,000 tons of Ukrainian grain. According to Reuters, citing two sources, four shipments of grain did not have time to load due to the outbreak of hostilities.

The grain was to be delivered in February and March. Egypt's General Directorate of Commodities Supply has released trading companies Nibulon and Inerco from contractual obligations to supply four shipments of wheat, despite the absence of a force majeure clause in the contract.

One of the grain carriers, which is loaded with cargo in the port of Chornomorsk in the Odessa region, is nevertheless going to be sent to Egypt.

Reuters recalls that Egypt is one of the largest grain importers. The day before, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Cairo. Ukraine accuses Russia of illegally exporting Ukrainian grain and selling it abroad.

On July 27, researchers from Russia Theft Watch published a report according to which, since the beginning of the war, Russia has stolen from Ukraine more than half a million tons of wheat, corn and barley, as well as more than 11,000 tons of steel products, totaling more than $166 million.
