Since the beginning of the war, 5,100 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia – Children’s Ombudsman of Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Russia, 5,100 children have been deported from Ukraine. This was told by the adviser-authorized representative of the President of Ukraine for the rights of the child and child rehabilitation Daria Gerasimchuk on the air of the telethon.

“This is the data of the National Information Bureau, which operates in Ukraine, and it is there that people turn to report the facts of deportation or displacement of children. Yes, we can say that applications have now been received regarding such facts regarding the deportation and displacement of 5,100 children. These applications continue to come in every day,” she said.

According to Gerasimchuk, Ukraine turned to the International Red Cross and other international organizations for help in finding children. The Children's Ombudsman stressed that they do not have the authority to directly return children, but they can "carry out search actions and monitor the state, conditions of their stay and ensuring their rights."

Gerasimchuk also noted that today there are 46 cases of return of Ukrainian children. We are talking about both orphans and children separated from their parents.

All forcibly deported Ukrainians are forced by the Russian military to go through filtration camps. The US has discovered at least 18 such sites. They were trained on both sides of the Ukrainian-Russian border even before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, according to US officials.
