Kommersant: Orbit chewing gum assortment will be reduced due to sanctions

The American company Mars (the largest player in the Russian chewing gum market) has had problems with the production of Orbit chewing gum in Russia. According to Kommersant, the reason may be that the rubber base for chewing gum made of synthetic polymers is subject to EU sanctions. Because of this, Mars plans to reduce the range of Orbit before the end of the year.

In the Verny network, the publication confirmed interruptions in the supply of Orbit. Mars has warned the chain that it won't be able to ship half of its inventory before the end of the year, with the remaining half being temporarily restricted until the end of July.

Two other sources of Kommersant in large chains also said that Mars had warned about the reduction of the Orbit assortment due to problems with ingredients and changes in the supply chain.

Mars is an American shelf-stable food company best known for chocolate bars. The company also manufactures pet food, chewing gum, beverages, fast food, and canned sauces. The main brands are Mars, Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Bounty, M&M's, Pedigree, Uncle Ben's.
