Legendary racing driver Bobby East killed in California. Alleged killer dies in shootout with police

Legendary NASCAR driver Bobby East was stabbed multiple times at a gas station in California. He died in the hospital.

According to CNN with reference to the Westminster police, a police detachment was sent to detain the criminal. A man suspected of murder was wounded in a shootout and later died in hospital.

According to the channel, we are talking about a 27-year-old man named Trent William Milsap. He had a previous conviction for armed robbery and had a warrant issued for his arrest due to parole violations. The motive for East's murder is still unknown.

East, 37, has competed in the USAC, ARCA and NASCAR series. At the age of 16 in 2001, East became the youngest driver to win the USAC National Midget Special Race. In 2004, he won 15 USAC races before starting his career in NASCAR.
