The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, will soon move to work in the presidential administration (AP) of Russia, a post that he may take is still being discussed. This is reported by Meduza, citing three sources close to the Kremlin. The information was also confirmed by an unnamed acquaintance of Rogozin.
One of the sources claims that Rogozin is being considered as a candidate for the post of head of the Presidential Administration. Since August 2016, the Presidential Administration has been headed by Anton Vaino, and now he can be “transferred to work through the diplomatic line.” The option is also being considered in which Rogozin will be one of the Kremlin curators of the "DPR" and "LPR", as well as other occupied territories of Ukraine. The head of Roscosmos can get the position of assistant to the president or deputy head of the Presidential Administration.
All three sources said that Rogozin "is in favor with the president." “The President loves him – and has long,” said one of them. After the outbreak of the war, Vladimir Putin met twice publicly with Rogozin - on February 27 and April 12 (Cosmonautics Day). An acquaintance of the head of the state corporation claims that in the mid-2000s, Sergei Shoigu wanted to take away the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome from Rogozin, but it was Putin who "did not allow this to be done." The President of Russia likes Rogozin's "dutifulness" and ostentatious patriotism, one of the interlocutors concluded.
Earlier, a RBC source in the military-industrial complex (OPK) reported that Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, who oversees space and the defense industry in the government, will leave his post in the near future. According to sources, Borisov may take the position of head of Roskosmos instead of Rogozin.
