An embassy of the "DPR" recognized only by Russia and Syria has been opened in Moscow at Grokholsky lane 13, building 2. This is reported by "Moscow speaking". However, the solemn opening ceremony with the participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov never took place, although it was announced earlier.
According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the so-called DPR, Natalia Nikonorova, citizens can apply to the embassy, bring their appeals, letters and statements. She also introduced the ambassador of the "republic" Olga Makeeva to journalists.
As the guard at the "embassy" told the correspondent of the publication "Novaya Gazeta.Europe", the ceremony was canceled this morning. It is not known when the celebration will take place with the invited guests.
Earlier it was reported that the embassy of the "DPR" will open in Moscow on July 12, and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, official representatives of the "LPR", unrecognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia and Syria will take part in the opening ceremony.
Legally, Russia recognized the existence of the republics of the "LNR" and "DNR" before the invasion of Ukraine. Previously, there were no diplomatic relations between the country and the self-proclaimed republics: the post of “DNR” ambassador to Russia was established on May 6, and was taken by Olga Makeyeva, a Donetsk lawyer. Whether the Russian embassy in the “DPR” will appear in response is unknown: in April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the “DPR” Natalya Nikonorova claimed that this would happen “within a month”.
