Swedish home appliance manufacturer Electrolux to leave Russia due to war and sanctions

The Swedish manufacturer of household and professional electrical equipment Electrolux Professional will leave Russia, as it is “impossible to continue business in the country in the current situation.” It is reported by Reuters.

The company will sell the business to local top management.

“As a result of the ongoing war and sanctions, we predict that we will not be able to sell and service products in Russia in the medium to long term.”

Electrolux Professional in Russia has 25 employees who accounted for 1% of sales in 2021.

Earlier, the website of IKEA, which announced the suspension of work in Russia after the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, fell after the start of the sale at midnight on July 5. Many users were unable to log into their accounts, add items to the cart, and for some, the site stopped opening at all.

A month ago, the company announced a decision to sell 4 IKEA factories in Russia, cut employees, and sell the remaining goods from warehouses. Landlords began to receive reports of early termination of contracts with IKEA.
