The Russian Navy received the submarine “Belgorod”, which can launch nuclear torpedoes “Doomsday” “Poseidon”

The Russian Navy received the first Belgorod nuclear submarine. This was reported by the press service of the enterprise "Sevmash".

“The Belgorod submarine opens up new opportunities for Russia in conducting various studies, allows conducting diverse scientific expeditions and rescue operations in the most remote areas of the World Ocean,” Sevmash quotes Nikolay Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

"Belgorod" is the first carrier of the ocean multi-purpose system "Poseidon". Nuclear torpedoes "Poseidon" are called weapons of "Doomsday". They became known after the page of the presentation of the project, then still called Status-6, was “accidentally” shown on Russian television in 2015.

However, as the US intelligence agencies found out , the "leak" was deliberate. According to US officials, the display of the nuclear torpedo was part of a plan to dissuade the US from deploying missile defenses in Europe. US intelligence believes that the Poseidon will have a warhead of up to 10 megatons, equivalent to 10 million tons of TNT, and will be used to destroy harbors and coastal cities in a nuclear conflict.

TASS wrote that "Poseidon" can carry a nuclear warhead with a capacity of up to 2 megatons. This is 100 times more than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, and 10 times more than the latest version of the B61 nuclear bomb developed in the United States.

Russian propagandists like to use Poseidon to threaten the West. So on May 1, 2022, Dmitry Kiselev threatened to destroy Britain. He stated that one Sarmat missile is enough to sink it, and Poseidon will be able to "plunge Britain into the depths of the sea":

“There is no way to stop this underwater drone. The warhead on it is up to 100 megatons. The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo off the coast of Britain will raise a giant wave up to 500 meters high. Such a water squall is also a carrier of extreme doses of radiation. Passing over the British Isles, it will turn what may be left of them into a radioactive desert.
