A court in Ukraine arrested the helicopter and plane of Vladimir Putin's godfather Viktor Medvedchuk. They were transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
The department's statement does not mention Medvedchuk's name, but says that the deputy in question is suspected of treason. It is also indicated that earlier, at the request of the prosecutors, the Medvezhya Oakwood complex and other assets were arrested, the ultimate beneficiary of which is the wife of the deputy - we are talking about Medvedchuk's wife Oksana Marchenko. On April 6, 2022, as a result of searches, more than 300 paintings by famous artists, snowmobiles, ATVs and cars were seized from there.
Since 2018, Medvedchuk has led the pro-Russian party Opposition Platform – For Life in Ukraine. In 2021, it was banned on the territory of Ukraine. In October 2021, the Ukrainian authorities suspected Medvedchuk of financing terrorism. On March 18, 2022, the Lychakovsky District Court of Lviv arrested him in absentia and placed him under house arrest. Medvedchuk escaped from arrest, but a month later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his detention.
In 2004, Medvedchuk became Putin's godfather - he, together with Dmitry Medvedev's wife Svetlana, baptized his daughter Daria.
