In the Novosibirsk Academgorodok, the police destroyed a spontaneous memorial to the memory of the scientist Dmitry Kolker, who died in a pre-trial detention center three days after his arrest on charges of treason. This is reported by the Telegram channel "Unscientific Town".
On July 3, near the monument to Academician Valentin Koptyug, local residents put up photographs of Kolker and 75-year-old Anatoly Maslov from the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who was also accused of treason and sent to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow. Flowers were placed next to the photographs.
On the same day, the photographs were removed, and a police squad was posted at the monument.
On June 30, FSB officers took Kolker from a Novosibirsk hospital, put him on a plane, brought him to Moscow and placed him in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. Kolker had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Prior to that, he refused to testify against the scientific director of the Institute of Laser Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Bagaev and the director of this institute Alexei Taychenachev. Kolker's son Maxim told The Insider. Before flying to Moscow, Kolker called his son to say goodbye. On July 3, a telegram was sent to Kolker's relatives stating that he had died.
