“Ukraine has actually closed its borders for all Russians: good and bad,” Oleg Dunda, deputy of the Servant of the People

Ukraine has effectively closed its borders to any Russians, regardless of their opinion of the country. This was announced on the air of the Ukrainian telethon by the people's deputy from the Servant of the People Oleg Dunda, he is quoted by UNIAN.

He explained that due to the fact that the Ukrainian embassy does not work in Russia, it is impossible to obtain a visa to enter Ukraine.

“A Russian citizen, in order to get to Ukraine with his Russian passport, needs to obtain an appropriate visa at the Ukrainian Embassy in Russia, which is not working now. That is, in fact, we have completely closed our borders to the entry of any Russians - good, bad - despite their opinions regarding Ukraine. This decision should have been made in 2014. Why haven't they done it yet? Well, this is a question for the authorities ... Although we were a little late. This, I emphasize once again, should have been done 8 years ago.”

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that on June 17 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine would consider his initiative to introduce a visa regime for Russian citizens from July 1. “As part of countering unprecedented threats to national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, I proposed to the Cabinet of Ministers to work out the issue of revising the regime for the entry of Russian citizens into the territory of Ukraine,” Zelensky said in a statement.

The resolution should terminate the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation on visa-free travel for citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation and some international treaties between the countries.
