General Volodymyr Karpenko, head of the logistics of the command of the ground forces of Ukraine, reported the loss of equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the start of the war. According to him, this is about 50% of heavy weapons. He stated this in an interview with National Defense.
“Today we have about 30-40, sometimes up to 50 percent of equipment losses as a result of active hostilities. About 1,300 infantry fighting vehicles, 400 tanks, 700 artillery systems were lost,” he said.
According to him, the weapons that Ukraine receives now cover only 10-15% of the needs.
“We need artillery, we need artillery shells, infantry fighting vehicles, tanks. We need air defense systems and multiple launch rocket systems. In addition, high-precision weapon systems,” said Karpenko.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the loss of Russian military equipment. According to the department, these are:
- 1430 tanks,
- 3484 armored combat vehicles,
- 715 artillery systems,
- 226 MLRS,
- 97 air defense systems,
- 212 aircraft,
- 178 helicopters,
- 582 UAVs of the operational-tactical level,
- 125 cruise missiles,
- 13 ships/boats,
- 2455 vehicles and tank trucks,
- 54 units of special equipment.
On June 9, The Independed, citing a joint report by Western and Ukrainian intelligence, reported that Russian troops outnumber Ukrainian troops by 20 to one in artillery and 40 to one in ammunition.
